🌿 ApuliaKundi: spirulina from Apulia
Spirulina is a microalga known to humans for centuries, but finding one grown in Italy is not a given. ApuliaKundi produces it in Apulia, naturally and according to a circular economy model: its Spirulina K is organic, 100% pure and dehydrated at low temperatures immediately after harvesting.
The same algae gives rise to a small range that brings spirulina to the table in many different ways: from tablets to snacks and even gluten-free pasta.
💊 Pure Spirulina K: tablets and sticks
The tablets contain only dehydrated Spirulina K, with no fillers, thickeners, preservatives or additives. Spirulina is high in protein, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium and vitamins B1, B2 and B6; it is also a source of fiber, zinc and vitamin B12.
- ✨ Organic Spirulina K tablets: 40 g, equal to 80 500 mg tablets, €18.98
- ✨ Organic Spirulina K sticks: 40 g of dried strands to crumble over yogurt, smoothies and salads, €17.98
The producer recommends a dose of about 2 grams a day, or 4 tablets or a teaspoon of sticks, preferably taken at breakfast. To find out how spirulina quality is assessed, read our guide on how to recognize quality spirulina.
🥨 Crunchy spirulina snacks
Anyone who prefers spirulina as part of a food will find two artisanal snacks in the ApuliaKundi range. Spirulina Crackers are raw and combine Spirulina K with almonds, sprouted buckwheat and flax seeds; they’re rich in fiber and also a source of protein, iron and calcium.
- ✨ Organic Spirulina Crackers: 4 x 25 g packs, to carry in your bag or use instead of bread
- ✨ Spirulina Energy Snack: with Toritto almonds, 4 packs of 25 g
- ✨ Gummy Bears: fruit gummy bears with BIO Spirulina K and vitamin C
We have already told the story of spirulina crackers in the article dedicated to the snack with the Italian superfood.
🍝 Gluten-free green pasta
The collaboration with pasta maker Andriani, brand Felicia, gave rise to gluten-free fusilli and spaghetti made with whole grain rice flour and Spirulina K. The pasta is organic, has an intense green color and a full flavor from the whole grain rice; it is a source of fiber, iron, and potassium.
- ✨ Fusilli with Spirulina K: 250 g pack, gluten-free
- ✨ Spaghetti with Spirulina K: gluten-free, in a pack of 4
🥣 How to add spirulina to your meals
Spirulina sticks have a strong flavor reminiscent of the sea, so it's best to start with small amounts. You can crumble them over yogurt with fresh fruit, blend them with banana and orange juice, or add them to a grain salad.
Spirulina is best eaten raw: if you use it in a hot dish, add it at the end, with the heat off. Felicia fusilli, on the other hand, cook just like any other pasta and go well with extra virgin olive oil, cherry tomatoes, and a grating of lemon zest.
