Podere dei Folli: Quattro Generazioni di Passione per il Rosé sul Lago di Garda

Podere dei Folli: Four Generations of Passion for Rosé on Lake Garda

Natura Bio Italia is proud to introduce an extraordinary new producer: Podere dei Folli, an organic winery in Valtènesi that for over a century has been expressing the authentic soul of the Brescia shore of Lake Garda through its wines.

A Family History That Begins in 1920

The history of Podere dei Folli dates back to 1920, when great-grandfather Pietro founded the "Valle della Vigna" winery, transforming cornfields into vineyards and planting the first Groppello, a native grape that would become the emblem of the Valtènesi region. Today, over a century later, brothers Davide and Marco Folli continue this legacy with the same passion as their ancestors, combining tradition and innovation.

In 2002, Podere dei Folli made a pioneering decision: converting its entire production to organic, investing in biodiversity and the eco-sustainability of the vineyard. This far-sighted decision has now resulted in certified organic wines of extraordinary quality, recognized and appreciated throughout Italy.

The Territory: Where the Mediterranean Meets the Alps

The Podere dei Folli vineyards extend over almost five hectares on the moraine hills of Polpenazze del Garda and Puegnago, in the Valtènesi region. This unique area enjoys a Mediterranean microclimate tempered by the proximity of Lake Garda, ideal conditions for growing Groppello and other traditional grape varieties such as Marzemino, Barbera, and Sangiovese.

The names of the wines reflect their places: Sofaì means "under the beech trees," where farmers rested during summer; Vegna is "vineyard" in the local dialect; Béspoi indicates the "area rich in medlars"; Preafète evokes the flowery meadows of the Soffaino hills.

The Philosophy: Craftsmanship and Respect for the Environment

For Podere dei Folli, rosé wine isn't just a product, but a way of life. The vineyards are meticulously tended: no synthetic chemicals, no beneficial insects in the vine rows, and strictly manual harvesting in small crates to preserve the integrity of the grapes.

In the cellar, most fermentations take place with selected indigenous yeasts, respecting a tradition that dates back to the Venetian senator Pompeo Molmenti, who codified the "wine of one night" technique – a few hours of contact between the must and the skins to extract the characteristic pink color.

The environmental commitment also extends to the packaging: caps made from recycled ocean plastic, labels printed directly on the glass to eliminate paper and plastic, and FSC-certified cartons.
