Uggiano Chianti Riserva DOCG is a characterful Tuscan red wine produced by the historic Uggiano winery in San Vincenzo a Torri, in the heart of Florence province, from a Sangiovese-based blend (minimum 70%) vinified according to Chianti tradition. Deep Bordeaux-red color, complex bouquet of sour cherry, berries and sweet violet with hints of vanilla, elegant tannic structure and a lingering finish.
Why this Chianti Riserva is different
The Chianti Riserva DOCG designation is reserved for wines aged for at least 24 months, including at least 3 months in the bottle. This isn't a basic Chianti; it's the select vintage. Uggiano produces this wine at Tenuta Aquilaia, in a favored winegrowing area where Sangiovese expresses its more structured character: noticeable yet never aggressive tannins, and ripe fruit balanced by natural acidity that ensures longevity.
The result is a wine that stands up to the great dishes of Tuscan cuisine, from pici with meat ragù to grilled meat, but has enough personality to be enjoyed on its own, as a Riserva DOCG deserves.

Recommended pairings
Uggiano Chianti Riserva DOCG is at its best paired with hearty Tuscan cuisine. Ideal dishes include pici with meat ragù, pappardelle with porcini mushrooms, grilled meat and Florentine steak, Florentine tripe and lampredotto, and stewed game such as wild boar or hare. It also pairs well with medium- to long-aged cheeses and robust Tuscan cured meats such as Finocchiona IGP or Capocollo Toscano.
For a complete taste of the region: Uggiano Chianti Riserva DOCG with Chianina IGP Florentine steak is one of the most authentic pairings in Tuscan tradition.
FAQ
What is Chianti Riserva DOCG?
The Riserva designation indicates a Chianti DOCG wine aged for at least 24 months, including 3 months in the bottle. It is the more full-bodied and age-worthy version of Chianti, with greater aromatic and tannic complexity than the standard Chianti.
What is the difference between Chianti DOCG and Chianti Classico DOCG?
Chianti Classico DOCG comes exclusively from the historic area between Florence and Siena and is subject to stricter regulations (at least 80% Sangiovese, longer aging). Chianti DOCG covers a larger area of Tuscany. Both require DOCG certification.
At what temperature should Chianti Riserva be served?
The ideal serving temperature is 16-18°C. We recommend opening the bottle 30 minutes before drinking to let the wine breathe and release its full bouquet.
How long can this wine be stored?
Store in the cellar at 15-16°C, horizontally, away from light and vibrations. Excellent from the moment of purchase, it can improve further in the bottle for 3-5 years.
